About the Artist
ALEX HAN
Alex Han is a 12-year old alto saxophonist from Tenafly, New Jersey. When he was 4 years old, he was diagnosed with attention deficit disorder. His parents wanted to provide him with some structure and a creative outlet, so he began to study the recorder at age 7, since he was too small to hold a saxophone. At age 8 he began taking private saxophone lessons. He recorded his first jazz demo CD when he was 11 years old. In February he was featured as guest artist for Grammy Award-Winning saxophonist, Paquito DÆRivera, at a Jazz at Lincoln Center concert. Recently he was chosen as one of two national recipients of the VSA Arts Panasonic Young Soloist Award, and played for a public service announcement with the actress Marlee Matlin. Han studies now with Gottfried Stoger of the J.C.C. Thurnauer School of Music in Englewood.
